How Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation Works

How Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation Works

The spray polyurethane foam insulation installation begins with a spray rig truck that will be parked near the building or house to be insulated. The truck holds the chemical ingredients that are mixed to form the polyurethane foam. After mixing the ingredients, the resulting foam is propelled through a long hose by an air supply in the spray rig truck. As the polyurethane foam is sprayed on the building envelope surfaces, it expands and cures into a solid material over the next 24 hours. During installation, installers will wear personal protective equipment and other people will be asked to leave the job site for 24 hours. After the installation, your installer will inspect the foam insulation to ensure that it is an appropriate thickness and quality, and it is fully adhered to the building envelope surfaces.
